2012 Festival

Fifth Annual Port Orford Water Festival

The Fifth Annual Port Orford Water Festival was held on April 13th and 14th, 2012. The total attendance for both nights was 350+ with over 135 attendees in grades K-8. There were over 40 volunteers, along with 23 interactive booth participant groups and food vendors.

First Lady of Oregon, Ms. Cylvia Hayes, kicked off the Festival on Friday by delivering the Keynote Address entitled, “The Importance of Coastal Communities in the Clean Economy.” On Saturday, the festivities began at 8:30 am with a free breakfast at the American Legion Hall. The interactive environmental educational activities followed soon after with the Tsunami and Marine Debris Workshop. The fan-favorite shark and squid dissections began at 11:00 am and an award winning documentary, Bag It, showed at 12:00 pm. There were raffle drawings at 1:30 pm, along with surf lessons at Dock Beach and fishing lessons at Arizona Beach State Park at 2:30 pm.

Thank you to all Festival attendees, volunteers, and vendors for continuing to support the Port Orford Water Festival and making each year a success!
